A caste certificate or community certificate, in layman's words, is a document proving a person belongs to a specific caste or tribe, particularly one that is listed under the SC and ST categories in our Constitution.
You can obtain this community credential in one of two ways:
Online Caste Certificate
Offline Caste Certificate
A caste certificate is a document that attests to a person's membership in a certain caste as defined by the Indian Constitution. Another name for it is a community certificate. In Tamilnadu, a permanent caste or community certificate issuance system was started in 1988. To promote equality among all citizens, caste certificates are used to grant certain advantages to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Thus, a Scheduled Cast or Scheduled Tribe community member must present a caste certificate in order to get any such benefits.
