Obtaining a PAN

Similar to a passport, driver's licence, Aadhaar, etc., PAN may be optional or voluntary. However, its use is necessary in certain locations, such as PAN for high-value banking transactions, a driver's licence for driving a car, a passport for travelling abroad, etc.

Uses of PAN

The PAN's main goals are to give all financial transactions a universal identification and to prevent tax fraud by tracking financial transactions, particularly those of high-net-worth persons who have an influence on the economy.

Documents Required

One passport size photograph of the applicant
Aadhar card copy
Previous income certificate, if any (optional)
BPL Ration or National Food Security Card
Relevant document of expenditure such as rent receipts or electricity bill
The applicant must hold a signed copy of the self-declaration along with the application form
